International Women's Day Event
|
Below are pictures from the International Women's Day Event sponsored by and held at Escuela
Sam Miguel. The event, held annually on March 8th, was organized by ESM staff professors: Laura
Schleifer, Jessica Nichelle Deaver and Melissa Benedict .
With more than 130 people in attendance, guests were treated to an educational and entertaining
program focused on inspiring women from all over the world to achieve their full potential. As part
of the event, those in attendance were separated into eleven teams competing for prizes in
activities; including skits, singing and dancing.
The above pictures are (left) a skit about alcohol related spouse abuse, (center) children in attendance and (right) Professor Laura Schleifer singing. Click image for larger view.

Students Helping Students
|
I have wonderful and heartwarming news from the students; their
teacher-Ms. Christie Pontarolo, Melanie Mikkelsen and Sue Cain of
our sister school Cataldo Catholic Grade School in Spokane, WA.
The students have been working independently to obtain funds for
scholarships and needed items for our Escuela San Miguel (ESM).
Then the students decided to hold a bake sale to raise more money.
The bake sale happened on May 30th and the student’s (with help
from parents, Christie, Sue and Mel) collected $200.00! And to top
that off an anonymous donor offered to match the amount, so the
children have collected and contributed $400.00 for the students in
Nicaragua. What a wonderful gift. They are learning early and well
Christ’s message of caring for the less fortunate. Thanks Cataldo
4th graders, parents, Christie, Mel and Sue for all you are doing.
We are very grateful and humbled.
