THE FACTS

Nicaragua is the poorest country in Central America and the second poorest in the Western Hemisphere.

Nowhere in the world will you find more kind or loving people than in Nicaragua. Just like us, they want a better future for themselves and for their children. Parents work hard and sacrifice so that their children can get an education.

In Nicaragua, there are no student loans for school. In Nicaragua there are no Pell Grants for college. In Nicaragua there is a wonderful school named San Miguel—thanks to your generous support!

What We Do

What We Do

What we do

In 2004 Dean White (founder of Projects For People), his family and friends built a vocational school and named it Escuela San Miguel; which means “School of Saint Michael.” Michael White was Dean’s brother, a man who dedicated his life to education. After completing the school they gave it to the community of Cardenas, Nicaragua.

Ever since then, Projects for People has been providing both financial and technical support to Escuela San Miguel. Just as Escuela San Miguel endeavors to help its students improve and become more self-sufficient, Projects For People endeavors to help Escuela San Miguel with the same goals.

Partnerships for the future!

Isidro Martinez, a member of the Cardenas community is 63 years young and is married with seven children. Isidro’s children have studied English and computers at Escuela San Miguel. “I feel happy as a father, for my children. Escuela San Miguel helps families in Cardenas.” The school “took my sons from the darkness and gave them knowledge!”

Isidro passionately asked that the staff, the teachers and the donors be thanked for making such great changes possible! He went on to say that he could not, in his lifetime, dream of such great changes in this part of the world and that Escuela San Miguel has made it so! “When I look around I see people who studied at Escuela San Miguel now helping others in town. Thank you, thank you, thank you!”

Isidro has big dreams. He shared that the impact and the work of Escuela San Miguel should not stop here. He shared his hopes and dreams that Escuela San Miguel will be able to help other communities and more people. Isidro hopes that more young people will get an education; “they are the future.”

Isidro has faith that ESM’s positive impact will continue to grow!
